History The BSDA was founded on May 7, 1967 by Peter Schensick, Hannelore Toepfer (Schensick), Dietmar Weigel (died 1986), Manfred Sperling (died 1995) and Jürgen Warning (died 2017). The aim was to coordinate the activities of the clubs they represented (Berlin Swinging Bears, Rubber Dollies, Havel City Dancers and Berlin Dancing Bears).

Classes Potsdam Promenaders New square dance class starts on 01.11.2024. Crazy Eights Open house as a prelude to a new square dance class on February 5, 2024. Until then, there is an opportunity to get to know square dancing without obligation every Wednesday at the “Wednesday squares”.

Links European Association of American Square Dancing Clubs e.V. The EAASDC is an association of all Square Dance, Round Dance, Clogging and Contra clubs within central Europe. The countries covered so far are Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Russia. The clubs in Great Britain, Denmark, the Netherlands and Sweden as well as in the Czech Republic and Slovakia have their own umbrella associations.

Obituary The Rubber Dollies are in mourning! We are saddened and sad to say goodbye to Marion Weber. She passed away on 04.08.2023 Marion got to know and love square dancing while still at school in Lower Saxony. The dance and the love led her from Söhlde to Berlin, where she became a member of the Rubber Dollies on 1.10.71 and brought a refreshing kick to the club.

Welcome What is BSDA? The Berlin Square Dance Association is a voluntary, loose association of clubs in and around Berlin. There are no rules, but there are guidelines. The top priority is to work together, whereby each club is allowed its own special characteristics.
